Pleasant Productions is an unorganized collection of filmmakers, artists, writers, musicians and all round trouble makers. Following a path of endless degradation, Pleasant Productions continues to pump out feature films, short skits, comics and the occasional album. The only common theme running throughout all Pleasant Productions products is that they push the boundaries of bad taste to new levels whether they are commenting on relevant issues or just looking to squeeze out a cheap laugh. Currently the Pleasant Productions contributors consist of Andrew Gallacher, Jean-Luc Syndikas, Pierre, Joe Coen and Captain Gorgonzola, "led" by by Dave (D.A.) Jackson. They stand united to offend, disgust and destroy whatever they see fit... but really, they're actual quite gentle guys.

Dave and Jean-Luc at the Q&A for "Cannibal Suburbia"
Pleasant Productions started way back in 2000 with two spotty teens: Dave Jackson and Gavin Murray. They both shared a passion for comedy, so they formed stand up comedy duo named the Pleasant Assassins. A tacky name for a tacky act. After a few days of writing some truly awful stand up material that even Carrot Top fans would retch upon hearing, they came to the realization that live performance was something that required a talent they certainly didn't possess. So instead, they decided to make films with funny bits, but mostly just a lot of overblown gore. Dave took the role of director, while the more handsome Gavin became the lack-of-acting-talent stooge. They called their "production company" Pleasant Productions. During this time they created such classics as the awful crap fest that was Spleen (2001) and the 70 minute epic Throbbing Gristle of the Black Horseman (2002). It was all a load of rubbish and bad smells, but it was fun. Shortly after high school ended, Gavin was shipped off to Canberra by the government leaving Dave all alone.

Even Dave (left) and Gavin look unimpressed with the script.
In a drunken and bitter haze, Dave enrolled in the RMIT Screen Production course. It was during this time he shat out films such as The Devil's Primetime (2004) and The Snuff Machine (2005). Dave decided film was not enough and started on the journey towards the Pleasant Productions comic Modern Gentlemen. Jean-Luc Syndikas and Andrew Gallacher instantly became part of the team as writer-artists. The first issue was reasonably well received despite the amateur touch. Shortly after the comic's release, Jean-Luc and Dave co-wrote, directed and produced the first feature film from Pleasant Productions, Cannibal Suburbia (2008), starring Donkey Punch Disco and Secret Mango. Cannibal Suburbia is waiting on a DVD release later in 2009. Issue two of the comic was also recently released and welcomed new artists Joe Coen and Pierre, as well as writers Captain Gorgonzola and Thomas Kinsman. Currently the Pleasant Productions team isworking on a new feature script, numerous shorts and issue three of Modern Gentlemen.
